Rick and Melanie fell in love and were married in 2006. Rick had two daughters Brittany and Jessica. Since then we had little Addison.
The long and short of our life is that We have been making a go of trying to make a "blended" family work. We've had a lot of ups and downs and we're still learning a lot, but we keep on going. It's been a wonderful ride, to be a family.
One thing we have learned is best said by Maya Angelou: "We do the best we can with what we know, and when we know better, we do better."
Life should not be a journey to the grave, with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive & well preserved body, but rather, to skid sideways, chocolate in one hand, Diet Coke in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out & screaming "WOO-HOO, WHAT A RIDE!
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about you shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically literates others."
